Days 1 to 14 - Ashaninka Adventure Expedition

  • crossing the Andes by bus to the jungle frontier town of Satipo, we fly in a light aircraft to the remote Amazon settlement of Cutivireni

  • meeting the Ashaninka tribe in their communities which are scattered throughout the rainforest

  • trekking along rivers and through jungle to the community and waterfall of Parijaro (the 2nd highest single drop fall in Peru)

  • running the Cutivireni river downstream on rafts to catch a plane back to Satipo

  • exchanging or buying craft goods directly from Ashaninka families

  • relax and eat like a king at a resort in one of Peru's glorious coastal desert valleys

 


Days 15 to 21 - Machu Picchu and the Incas' Sacred Valley

    • exploring the cultural and historic cityu of Cusco - ancient capital of the Inca Empire

    • visiting the magestic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu by train

    • relaxing in thermal springs at the Inca baths

    • savouring the landscape, foods, crafts and Inca sites of the Sacred Valley

    • enjoying Cusco's delicious cuisine, great shopping and busy nightlife

    • hiking the Inca Trail an option (additional cost)

 



Your Guides

Dilwyn Jenkins will be leading this tour. With a passion for Peru and almost 30 years travelling the country, Dilwyn is an experienced tour guide and expedition leader. He has a Cambridge degree in Archaeology and Anthropology and has written all 6 editions of the Rough Guide to Peru. His Peruvian counterpart - Carlos Montenegro - is operational manager of the expedition and tour.  Carlos is also an Anthropologist and one of Peru's top professional photographera as well as General Manager of Ecotribal Peru.

* These prices cover accompanying guide, entry tickets, transport and accommodation (including tents supplied by Ecotribal and native huts) in Peru. They do NOT include international airfare (& Lima airport departure tax) to and from Peru, travel insurance (each tour participant is required to take out their own cover), meals (except while on jungle expedition), drinks or tips (though many breakfasts are included in Cusco hotels) or entry tickets to Machu Picchu or main sites in and around Cusco (a general Cusco ticket can be bought on arrival).

A sleeping bag, backpack and hiking shoes are necessary for the jungle section of this tour.


Other Booking Conditions

  • a 20% booking deposit is required to reserve your place on the tour

  • the final 80% must be paid before March 15th 2008 (or your place and deposit may be lost)

  • Ecotribal Ltd reserves the right to change the itinerary and destination if circumstances reasonably dictate this course of action


Difficulty Level:  Moderately difficult (determination and mental stamina are more important than fitness)

Transport:  Buses, planes and rafts

Accommodation:  Hostals, hotels and camping (tents or huts provided, but no beds)
