Andean Alpaca Textiles
Scarves, bags and smaller wall hangings made from fine Andean alpaca wool
This collection of Andean Alpaca textiles are all woven from fine fibres of either baby Andean Alpaca wool, which is extremely soft, or adult Andean Alpaca wool, which is slightly coarser. All these pieces come from small communities in the mountainous rural region around Cusco. They are woven by hand on back-strap looms and incorporate traditional motifs which have been used for generations, most representing aspects of nature in the high Andean world around.
