EcoTribal Philosophy
Supply Chain Development
Consistency of product supply will be maintained by Ecotribal's approach which spreads procurement across a number of different producer groups (e.g. initially with Ashaninka of Cuti and Annexes as well as the Lamas of the Tarapoto region).
Organic Quality & Green Markets
Higher costs and consequently higher prices are inevitable. The Ecotribal brand promotes a quality of life product which will always be as organic as possible. Organic status will be sought for most products included in the range. The remote sourcing of the products and their sustainable and fair trade nature will be reflected in an appropriately high retail price.
Fair Trade & Profits
Ecotribal's concept is to pay an initial fair price, then return a percentage (10% probably) of the final profit back to producers on a pro rata basis. A further donation of profits is planned for Community Trusts established in producer communities. The remaining profits go to Ecotribal shareholders which is expected to include ethical investors and, eventually, producer cooperatives.
Our research indicates that the UK and EU markets are ready for this type of product range. In the UK, fair-trade and organic coffee already have 15% of the supermarket coffee shelf. Ecotribal will compete directly for a percentage of this. Our USP is that over and above being organic and fair trade, buying these products represents an act of solidarity with remote indigenous communities who are striving to protect the last rainforest regions of the planet.
