Ecoverde Tours, Brazil
Recommended by all the best travel guide books, Ecoverde Tours is one of the best small operators for wildlife safaris into the Pantanal swamp.
Based in Cuiaba, Ecoverde is run by the wildlife-ecologist Joel Souza, who speaks excellent English and German, among other languages. Joel often has a presence at the airport and has an office at Av. Getulio Vargas 155-A, in the centre of Cuiaba Mato Grosso, Brazil. Tours into the Pantanal can be arranged from 2 days to 2 weeks, depending on clients' needs. Most groups go from Cuiaba by road into the Northern Panatanal, but itineraries can be designed to suit all requirements. Standard trips will include walking forest and swamp trails, bird watching from canoes, night exploration, piranha fishing and horse-riding. A good standard accommodation and food is available in the pousadas selected by Ecoverde; and, the company's guides are all wildlife experts, local people and good linguists. Tour prices start at around $60-70 a day (including transport, food, guides, accommodation, horse-riding etc).

Ecoverde also has a base at the Pousada Ecoverde
